When Peach was in the PotD Rosalina was announced, when pikachu was in the PotD greninja was announced so one would assume that since both samus and dk are on the PotD that Ridley and Dixie Kong would be announced. For more info on why Dixie is in check my 2nd to last post.

The only way that Mewtwo or anyone like that would get in would be a software update or DLC. DLC doesn't actually sound like a bad idea. You could get alternate skins, moves, gear, equipment, or maybe even a character.
