Mario Kart 8 can only transmit your voice, and Wii U Chat transmits video as well, in case you know your friend in real life. I'd rather keep Wii U Chat.

Not really. They could update Wii U Chat To where you will be transfered to an online game with facecam and/or Voice Chat.
