    You need to have an extra controller (Wii Remote, Classic Controller, Pro Controller) and turn on the controller by pressing any button.

    Then, touch the screen on the GamePad, look at the top of the screen. There should be four squares. Don't touch that yet though. Look at the bottom from there.

    You will see the sign for the GamePad and the extra controller. Oddly enough, BOTH the GamePad and WiiRemote are P1.

    If it is like that, then tap the squares and click the second square. This will cause the GamePad to be P2 and the other controller to be P1.

    Then with the P1 controller, use the "-" button to choose a mode and press "+" to confirm. Then you play :D
