Releasing the 3DS version 6 months ahead of the Wii U version is a huge mistake. It's going to be a nail in Wii U's coffin. Nintendo will lose a large portion of Wii U buyers to the 3DS.

    Tbh, they can do what they want and not be harmed. Even if they ran a deficit of 250 mil each year they'd survive until 2050

    I think having a 3DS version at all was a bit of a mistake. I think only having a Wii U version would have sold more Wii U's.

    Wrong. They will have incentives to buy both. Transfer fighter profiles, more modes, better graphics. Think of monster hunter 3, you could own both and take your game with you

    It will build hype, Smash is not a game you get tired of playing in 6 months. 3ds is a teaser, wii u will be the real thing. Get the people who own a 3ds to get it, then hook them in to buying a wii u

    If they can show that Wii U has anything more than a graphics boost, then it might be worth it. So far, the 3DS even has more modes. Graphics and some different stages aren't enough.

    While Nintendo can financially afford a failed console or 3, they aren't doing Wii U any favors right now. They seem to be putting more effort into 3DS when it doesn't need it.

    While I plan on getting both versions, I feel like I'm going to be in the minority. People aren't going to want to pay another $60 for the same game they bought 6 months ago.

    They announced the new mode in 3ds because is at most 4 or 5 months away. wii u is 7-9 months off, with more development to do. we might see something at e3, but i bet we'll learn even more after too.

    cross platform profile transfers seemlessly, like MH3 ultimate for wiiU/3ds plus other connectivity features. (probably not cross playform play, maybe a special spotpass type swap of player stats)

    That's what I am hoping for, but where they leave it right now is in a bad place. They could just as easily said 'more to come on Wii U exclusive content at E3' to show that Wii U isn't left out.
