So you're saying that Ridley's deconfirmed by the direct? Ordinarily, you'd be right, but, since this is Sakurai we're talking about, you're dead wrong.

  • @Takehiko We don't actually see Ridley, so It's not "stupid" to hope that Ridley's playable, it's just optimistic

  • Sizes shouldn't matter in Spinoff games. Ridley hasn't always been big. He was really small in Metroid Prime Pinball! Besides, DK was a stage hazard in Brawl. Argument invalid.

    Yeahs0
  • I think they justified Donkey Kong being a stage hazard in Brawl by saying it wasn't actually Donkey Kong, it was just a younger version of Cranky Kong

    Yeahs0
  • It was technically Cranky, true, but Ridley'd have a similar situation, as the Ridley in Metroid Other M is just a clone. There's more than one Ridley.

    Yeahs0
  • Well, either way, than canonically explains why there can be 2 Ridleys. And, that way, the real Ridley can be considered too big while a clone is playable, allowing canon to be maintained.

  • hes a boss. goin from assist trophy to fighter (little mac) is one thing, but from boss to fighter is another

  • If you don't understand the short version, go to Feliciafan444's channel. He's made some good videos that explain it in depth.

  • Not really, Dark Link. It's a fighting game tradition to promote bosses to playable characters in sequels. Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat to the same. Roles are never set in stone.

    Yeahs0
  • the point of ssb is to be different of other fighting games. comparing smash to mortal kombat and street fighter doesn't help your case....

    Yeahs0
  • and i wouldn't exactly call it a tradition. thats like calling one good luck kiss a tradition

    Yeahs0
  • Yes, Dark Link, it DOES help my case. Why? Because the thing that makes it "different" is the fact that it's innovative and doesn't necessarily have to follow logic and reason. That's why it's great.

    Yeahs0
  • No, I want him playable for many reasons. He's an important and iconic villain, the Metroid franchise needs more reps, and he'd have a unique moveset that would make him a very desirable character.

    Yeahs0
  • Well Zero Suit Samus was in Brawl. Seperating them is controversial to whether a new character was actually added. Plus I think all of Nintendo's biggest all stars should have their villains playable.
