（瀬戸内しまなみ海道）広島県尾道市から、向島・因島・生口島・大三島・伯方島・大島を経由して、愛媛県今治市へと至る道。本州四国連絡橋の中で唯一自転車道が整備され、海を見ながら渡れるという事で、サイクリストの聖地として有名。島内では坂がきつい所も多く、実は海岸沿いを走った方が楽なのでは…？と思って道を調べてみたが、やはり山越えは免れられず。だが、風光明媚な脇道を走り、島民の生活観を感じるのも良さそう。

    自分は今治側から走った事がある。途中ベンチに座って休憩していると、近くの婦人会の方々が、「良かったらこれ持って行って」と、つきたての草餅をおすそ分けしてくれた。それが忘れられない思い出になりそうで、皆さんの写真を撮らせてもらい、今も残っている。道中は碌な食事にありつけず、この時の草餅は、貴重な食料となった。国道３１７号→県道１６１号に入り、旭方バス停の反対側にある木造の公民館。ごちそうさまでした。
