    Dr. Chakwas was still young and naive. She wanted to travel the stars, treating the wounds of tough soldiers, but she quickly realized that real military life wasn't as romantic as she envisioned.

    The Alliance assisted the colony in repelling the Batarian attack and rescuing the colony. Dr. Chakwas took part in the battle. Their actions thwarting the Batarian blitz became an Alliance legend.

    After Shepard interacted with the Prothean beacon, Dr. Chakwas treated and monitored Shepard's condition while unconscious. She found Shepard physically unhurt, but showed signs of intense dreaming.

    Afterwards, Shepard's team was broken up and reassigned. Chakwas was stationed at the respected Mars Naval Medical Center but after spending so long on ships she could never feel at home on a planet.

    In 2185, Chakwas was contacted by Cerberus to serve on the newly rebuilt Normandy SR2 along with Joker, and even Commander Shepard. She received an official leave of absence from her post and joined.

    With no family in her life the Normandy was more like her home. The soldiers she treated either died or left to fight, on the Normandy she had Joker who'd always need treatment, giving her stability.

    But staying aboard the Normandy, so long carries great risk. During Shepard's mission to stop the Collectors the Normandy was attacked and the crew was taken to the Collector Base, including Chakwas.

    Shepard and his entire squad attacked the base to rescue the crew, arriving just in time to save Chakwas just before the Collectors melted her down into genetic material to feed into a reaper larva.

    After the defeat of the Collectors Shepard turned himself and the Normandy into the Alliance. In 2186 Chakwas was reassigned to an Alliance R&D lab on the Citadel working closely with Admiral Hackett.
