  • Take note of Nintendo's implementation of digital purchases. Digital items are attached to your console, not to your eShop account. Sell the machine to someone? Your games and DLCs go with it.

  • wait that's different from psn where what you buy is attached to your account name, i never have had a xbox so dont know how they do it

  • Yes it is different. Just know the risk. Cautionary tale on Kotaku to view in a browser/PC/tablet: http://kotaku.com/5982965/nintendo-fan-is-unhappy-with-nintendos-200-answer-to-his-400-wii-u-problem

  • i will weigh this in for sure, on PS3 i went through two of them but it was no big deal, log in and redownload your stuff on the new one

  • I fear for the risk that if it breaks down, my DLCs go with it too. If Nintendo handles repairs, they will be able to transfer your digital licenses to a replacement console (if needed).

  • i will pick up a physical copy i believe, the possibility of my wii u breaking down someday even though i take good care of stuff, makes me think physical better with Nintendo policy

  • heck i took care of my ps3 but the laser reader worn out on it, had to get a second, why would i not believe the same thing can happen to a Wii U you know

  • I believe Nintendo's rational was that they didn't want online authentication of licenses. They also likely did not want to have multiple license storage (online and console) out of fear of piracy.

  • On the brighter side, Club Nintendo keeps track of all online goods registered. So it is proof of purchase that you own what you say you own whenever you need to take it up to them.
