i think in the japanese version of some games when you attack and/or take damage instead of making random noises link says an actual sentence. (although this may not be true.)

did the zelda suckDI games have good voice acting? no. did fire emblem have good voice acting? yes. which one was made by nintendo? fire emblem. which means a good zelda game can have a non-silent link and have voice acting.

To quote PeanutButterGamer's Zelda CD-i video: 'Some people have complained in the past about Zelda not having voice-overs but personally, I think it's better without them. And this is a prime example of the absolute worst that could happen if you gave Link a voice.' Seriously. Just watch some of the cutscenes from the Zelda CD-i games.

NO he shouldn't talk as it a good way for the player to feel like there on the adventure. plus it's good for kids to read, heck if it wasn't for my love & drive for zelda, paper mario & pokemon i may have never learned to read! because schools where giving up on me & if they just talked to me i wouldn't have a reson to read it & may have never learnd to read. some game just don't need to talk.

Ok, Imagine that you are in a dungeon and there is a person who says the solution of it with a riddle. The first time you hear the speech you don't understand. Ok, let's hear it again and again...well, Hearing a lot of times the same sentences is booooring. People don't talk in Zelda because, differently from other games, you have to understand what they say and to listen to them a lot of times

Uhm, sorry I have to explain it better. In games like Assassin's creed you can choose if seeing dialogues or not. You can continue the story without seeing them. Zelda is an action game but it's firstly an rpg. In each rpg to continue the story you must read dialogues a lot of times. Like in skyrim. Indeed, The main character hasn't a voice

no. we saw in "link: the faces of evil" that that's a terrible idea.

Oh c'mon, you can't seriously mention the CD-i games as an example, EVERYTHING was bad there, it doesn't count. Kid Icarus had great VA, it was so refreshing to see a Nintendo game where the characters talk. Text boxes is something Zelda inherited from the older entries and Nintendo insisted on keeping (maybe for cost reasons), but it's time to move on from that, it's limiting the game's potential

I'm fine with voice acting for all the characters except for link.

I read in a dyk gaming post that Miyamoto confirmed that Link will never have a voice.
