With Blaziken again banned in competitive play due to the Speed Boost ability, I'd like to ask you guys: what makes a pokemon 'OP'? My personal opinion is base stats of 600+.

  • I think that "OP" means that the pokemon has an ability, move, etc. that can either raise one stat to ridiculous levels, or anything that really just lets it outclass everything else.

  • This is my Meg.Blaziken strat: Protect, speee boost. Swords dance, speed boost. Protect, speed boost. Repeat twice and use baton pass on a Aagron.

  • OP is most like pokemon with few weaknesses or very easy to swipe every poke of the adversary... since the biggest weakness of blaziken was speed, it’s now an OP

  • Absurd stats and typing with no drawback. Ability may cause problems. An example is Xerneas, with very high stats, a good defensive typing, and an ability that boosts its STABs to absurd levels.

  • You wanna talk about OP? Metagross. 600+ stats and no 4x weakness. Strat: Trick room held item lagging tail, use gyro ball. woah.

  • Legendaries are all automatically OP. Take Darkrai; Bad dreams, dark void AND nightmare and dream eater? Lolno

  • Another big thing is unpredictably. If there's only one good set, like Greninja, then it's easy to bring in the right mon.But with Blaziken, there's like five different sets that are completely viable.

  • Not all legendaries are op. Look at Azelf. It hits hard, but it's a huge glass cannon.
