    Personally, I don't think Mewtwo should return. Yes he's cool, and yes he's gained popularity from X and Y, but he's already had a shot in Smash. Besides, since Jigglypuff isn't going anywhere...

    And it wouldn't make sense to remove Pokémon Trainer, we need SOME later generation representation. To prove that Pokémon has been improving over time, and that not all good Pokémon come from then.

    No matter how much Mewtwo changes because of X and Y, he's still a Gen I Pokémon. Since I can't see any decent fighters from Gen VI, MY Pokémon vote comes from the other new gen since the last game:
