    Nintendo eShop and system maintenance began at 4:00 p.m. EST and will end at 4:00 a.m. EST. It is not known if the eShop will work after this time, but it might.

    Nintendo. Nintendo even apologized on their Facebook page and you can find the news at Gengame.net or WiiUDaily.com. Also, Maintenance effects all systems even Wii U. State doesn't matter.

    You're 3D also should have gotten a Notification telling this and that Pokemon bank and other software that was to launch today was held back until a new date, not yet announced.

    I think Nintendo fixed the eShop but is only letting portions of the US access it at a time in order to control high traffic volume.

    @Austin Did you read anything I posted above? :P Nobody can access the eshop. Nobody in the world. Nintendo eShop and system maintenance is currently in works until 4:00 a.m. EST.
