I've just started the game, but so far it seems like more movie than game. The plot is fairly fun and extremely dramatic, but the actual game is really just a corridor shooter with a few RPG features.

It takes a few hours for the game to open up. But you still shouldn't expect something like an Elder Scrolls or GTA. There's plenty of side things to do, follow the story missions to get them.

  • Yes its designed to be very cinematic. The real game is taking to everyone controlling the dialog and shaping the story. It isn't meant to be an action game

  • Ness, do the dialogue and personality choices significantly shape the story? So far, I've noticed small cosmetic influences from the choices, but nothing that would imply major changes.

  • That said, I'm still pretty early in the game. And of course I haven't gone through multiple times to see the different possible outcomes.

  • Yes, the dialog often means life or death, as well as your relationship with.each character

  • Also certain options are only available if you have enough morality points and rep which you can only get by interacting with people and doing side missions

  • Though I still haven't had the time to finish, it has opened up somewhat. It turns out to be more engaging than I initially thought, so thanks for your thoughts; I probably would have just given up on it otherwise.

  • I do wonder why they just didn't make it a super slickly produced point-and-click adventure, though. I don't mean 'point and click adventure' as an insult--it's a respectable medium, in my view. It just seems like the interactive story telling is what the developers really had a passion for, so the other game play mechanics--though well done--felt like they were just distractions.
