    Is that the starting weapon? Or a different one? I've only seen the starting one, the fireball, and this axe. The axe seems weak compared to the original or fireball, so may restart.

    No the knife is the one that you throw like a spear. Once you get it don't pick up any other wepons. It is by far the most effective wepon in the game.
