it should be because luigis is green and toads is blue and peach is pink so it should have been red

In theory it should be red since it's Mario's color, but I think they made it orange (it's more orange than yellow) because its easier on the eyes and orange cats might be more inviting than red ones.

I too was thinking that it should have been red until I started wondering why Nintendo made the suit like that. And it makes some sense when you really get to think about it, like I said above.

Have you seen a red cat before? Doesn't look like the best color for a cat. Red wouldn't have looked the best on Mario and not on the cover. All the other colors are fine for the other characters.
