Every game had a "joke" character. This one's Wii fit trainer.

She's a fantastic addition, and goes to show the kind of characters that belong in Smash Bros.

Sakurai wanted an unexpected character and Wii Fit sold really well.

Wii Fit is a very big series in Japan I believe not to mention the need for more female characters, a new series, and a shock character with a wacky moveset. I think it makes sense.

i personally think the wii fit trainer was a terrible choice, and that they should have revealed a character with potential, like little mac instead.

I like the wii fit trainer because most characters in smash are all ready important from there respective franchises so this adds a new franchise and new moveset.

At e3 he showed 3 characters from games that a lot of people knew about wii fit because it sold really well, megaman because megaman, and villager because acnl was comming out so he wanted characters➡

that is true but miis would be more challenging to add because it wouldnt be easy to moves that are specifically mii related

That people knew of rather than little mac, shulk, or isaac at least I think that's what he was going for and I think mac and isaac will be in just not to be shown yet.
