I've wanted to visit this topic for awhile... Why does everyone care about shinies? Care about stats! Not some colour mutation that could be an effect of like cancer or something.

    Plus, alot of us now have no means to acquire a shiny excpet by means of trading away a shiny that we DON'T have. Being shiny doesn't make a pokemon great. Maybe special, but not great.

    If you're not into competitive play, you're hunting for Shinies. Besides, they're rare, and valuable if you find them yourself.

    the reason why is because too many trainers do EV & IV training, a.k.a. taking some fun from the game. rare shines are part of the fun

    Rare? Yes. Valuable? No. If being shiny meant better stats, then yes. Having a different colour scheme doesn't make a pokemon valuable. It's all in our heads!!!

    Shininess in older games needed specific IV combinations, so they were stronger then. Their apparent value comes from you yourself finding one. It also differs from person to person.

    i have the non shiny versions and shiny versions because its more fun instead of getting all pokemon then thers the shiny hunt its fun but people brag and i cant stand it

    i especially hate it when people constantly ask me for a shiny. i wish regular trading came back (ex: pikachu for pansage)

    I agree with phoenix. Shinies have messed me over so far, since I'm so late to join the game. I ask if someone has a shiny, they respond with asking for pokemon(usually shinies) that I don't have.

    I don't even know why people brag about them. They're a matter of luck. It takes almost no skill to find one. Also, if you want a normal poke for normal poke, I can trade with you.

    Try breeding Glameow or Krikitot. They're the rarest normal pokes in this gen because they only appear in the 4th gen.
