Why did Zelda fans insist that there was an overarching timeline for the series? Reading through the Hyrule Historia - it's obviously all nonsense, we'd have been better off without.

    Of course it is, it's so obvious the games were started as standalone tales, before being stitched together into some sort of timeline, they might as well not have bothered.

    I actually agree with you Kieran. I always thought for a long time every game was alone. Then because of the intrigue, Nintendo shoehorned everything into a timeline. No biggy to me though.

    It's not a massive deal, it just ruins it a little bit. I much preferred the idea that it was just retellings of the same legend, each time changing a little bit as it was told by different people.

    Honestly, I wish Nintendo would have just kept it a secret and not told us if there was a timeline one way or another. I liked the "mystery" of it!
