I've never done one. I can only assume it's having a dialogue with other people as someone else. It's like writing a fanfiction but with a few other people.

the fun of roleplay is that the story will never go as you expect since your partners can turn around the tables. The only problem are the noob people who think themselves like God that ruin the fun
