Why are people saying that slime weapons ruin the game? How? Is the most OP weapon type in the game?

Because they haven't bothered to research it. Slime is more powerful than it should be, but not that much. It starts to lose its power in G rank, there are better options.

It's strongest when you first get it, because the weapons that have it get high raw and sharpness at that point. The further you go the more other weapons surpass it.

Adding to what Jask said, slime is also rather effective on any monster. While it's not better than using the right element, it gets decently close, making it a one-stop-shop for most monsters.

Not so much OP, just easier and less resource intensive. Some people feel there's no reason to grind for multiple weapons if one slime weapon can get the job done well enough.

Slime works well on all monsters (except Brachy and maybe Miralis), but proper element or raw weapons will be better.

If there's one scenario where slime is the best, its multi-monster quests where the monsters have different elemental weaknesses. Otherwise, slime is never the best choice, just always a decent choice

Use it when you get it and for quests with multiple monsters that don't share a common weakness. But by the end of high rank you should be moving back to elemental weapons (or raw for hammer and GS).

Or if you ever fight alatreon, go ahead and use a slime weapon. an element effective weapon would only be good for half the time you fight it. Slime would be effective... At all times XD.

But yes, as stated above, slime is a strong boost to a weapon. It isn't, however, entirely overpowered as people like to act like it is. Sure, in high rank it's pretty effective, but later on

Monsters will get stronger, and slime will eventually take its sweet time to go "boom boom" and not do as well. It's still very effective on most monsters, and recommended on multi monster hunts.

Multi monster hunts that have different monsters in it, of course.

A long time ago, I stated that the weapon type was indeed overpowered, but not in strength and instead by its general effectiveness to a majority of monsters. It's all around good for almost

everything, and you don't typically see that for all other types of weapons.

Slime is only seemingly "op" against monsters whose hp isn't very high or have low tolerance 2 it and in groups. But it IS very strong 4 it not being an element which is y capcom nerfed it in mh4 i-
