    Neither are/were Mega Man, Sonic, or Snake. That didn't stop any of them from being in a SSB game. He's actually been on more Gamecube games than Solid Snake has been on Nintendo all together.

    mega man is a nintendo ICON his games on the NES are classics. who in 25 years from now is going to go "hey remember that pac-man game on the gamecube"? nobody. but everyone will remember mega man 2 as one of the best games ever

    Well, Pac-Man is a very huge icon in gaming history. Pretty much everybody recognizes his one-slice-missing pizza shape. As Sakurai said, "he's older than Mario!" At first, when I learned of Pac-Man in the game, I thought "Eh..." but now, he actually seems like he'll be a pretty good addition.
