Let us 3DS users have something! You don't see me going to the Megaman Battle Network community and complaining of how it should be for 3DS!

    I heard somewhere that in order to cover the cost of translating either MOTHER game, the games would have to be sold at $70-$90.

    It takes just as long to beat one Fire Emblem game. BTW, that comment about the price is to show why MOTHER 1 and 3 won't be translated: It's not profitable for Nintendo.

    The only reason FE is still alive is because of Awakening. Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem is being made because they would need to sell 700,000 copies of FE Wii U break even. By teaming up with Atlus, it reduces that burden significantly while tying in TWO fanbases.

    BTW, you are right that the only reason this game got here and not MOTHER is due to less text to translate. This reason can also be applied to Mario Lost Levels. If Shadow Dragon were profitable, FE 12 would've reached international shores. As generous to fans as Nintendo is, theu're still a business trying to make profit, even if Nintendo has enough money to tank through anything.

    If Nintendo changes it's mind and releases MOTHER 1 and 3 on VC, they would put 1 on 3DS since it's an NES game, while the Wii U gets MOTHER 3 since there aren't any GBA games on 3DS VC. We obscure RPG fans have to stick together, even if I occasionally rip on the MOTHER fanbase sometimes.

    Mother 1 was fully localized for NA release like 25 years ago... FireIcarus is wrong when he says that the game would cost $70-$90 which is a purely make up number, it doesn't even cost that much for new games with voice acting and loads more text today. I don't really care about Mother 1 but the information here was wrong so I thought I'd point it out.

    It was ready for release in Fall of 1991 but NoA canned it because with the Super Nintendo launching they decided they weren't going to release a niche NES game that would surely be looked over. FireIcarus, there isn't really any reason why the first Mother would not be profitable, Nintendo already did the localization 24 years ago. Releasing in now on VC wouldn't cost much...
