Drift a lot, don't fall off often, avoid as many items as possible by holding an item behind at all times, use a vehicle that you're comfortable with, but make sure that it's not a bad combo. Make sure to use the map to watch the cpu's actions. Finally, it takes skill, patience, AND...... just hope that you don't get wrecked by 5 red shells, a lighting bolt and then a blue shell.

I saw a video on YT and it said that we can't really be sure what the programming in the game is like so we can only guess how to get 3 stars. Just nail those cpu's and get a good distance so that you're in 1st most of the time. That's how I got 3 stars on every track. Just trying to help.
