Question

How useful is counter lancing? I'm starting to build my lance collection (already got GS and SA built up [7★ and HR1]) and I'm curious as to how often countering helps.

    Countering is the Lance's trump card. It's difficult to execute properly, but I've done some cool stuff with a properly timed counter. Such as stabbing a Rathalos out of the air, knocking over a charging Barroth, & forcing a burrowing Agnaktor back above ground.

    It's actually based on your build. I highly recommend guard + as it will make counter lancing easier. If you don't forget counter lancing and focus on evade lancing.

    Epic story from the Tales of Lancing: While hunting a Diablos she burrowed underground in order to surprise me. When she jumped out I countered and as she soared over me my lance caught the tip of her tail, severing it and sending her sprawling off to the edge of the area. Master the counter and monsters will bow before your might.

    Counter lancing is really good but its somewhat harder than evade lancing. You can really only counter on neutral or after the first two hits. The timing is a lot more lenient than eva1 hops but the fact you cant do it all the time takes some gettin used to. Just remember this when you lance and you should get better: Blocking is losing! counter or dodge!
