After seeing all of the PotD comments, people are complaining why Classic Mode should be a title change! Classic mode is Classic! They still have that stage by stage feature and facing Master Hand on the final stage, so Classic Mode does changed. I also saw a few ungrateful comments that we already know this from the direct. To those who said that, be grateful with these pics!

I love when Kirby is in Mr Sakurai's screenshots. It's adorable.

Phil Wenneck, Stu Price, Alan Garner, and Leslie Chow for DLC. You can't forget to put them in. They deserve to be in Smash. We can have two DLC stages in both versions are Bangkok and Las Vegas as new stages. Make it happen, Sakurai.

So, no giant or metal characters in this version of Classic mode like on the 3DS version?

This new Classic Mode on the Wii U version looks absolutely incredible I got admit.

Seeing carefully the picture, I noticed that some of the characters have a wrench, coins or trophy attached. I do imagine that we have to defeat them in order to obtain them, but what happens if they, by chance, selfdestruct? Do we still obtain their prizes?

I still have yet to unlock all characters and stages on the 3ds version as of this comment.

I really like this new mode but this is not classic anymore, it could have a diferent name.

Last year's Platinum members should be given a Wii U demo.

The only reason I bought Smash 3DS was for the exclusive trophies and Mewtwo... This version is the one I will actually play.

Awesome Classic Mode! A different take on the Smash series.

Classic mode looks really improve. I was sick and tired if Classic mode in Brawl, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong in Rumble Falls every time for me

why call it classic mode if its nothing at all like classic mode

If you don't get both versions of the game, you can't get Mewtwo, but if you did a unlock when you buy the amiibo of Mewtwo to use in game? "Amiibos, Have the character, Unlock the Power!"

It would be cool if the board and pieces could fight , after each fight you see the players progress with a cut-scene action movie, or even like a RPG gameplay action sequence, through the players involved

The 3DS version at least it look clearly like classic mode. But this on the other hand, it more of a different version of classic mode.

Firstly, I think that this looks awesome. I am a little bit confused at why they're calling it "classic mode" when it has very little to do with the actual classic mode. I'm a little surprised they didn't just put in normal classic and then call this "coliseum mode" or something. Don't get me wrong, this looks so cool. I'm just a bit confused about the name.

I find it funny the 3ds version has more detailed maps than Wii U does in terms of maneuvering between fights and original adventure maps (Classic mode paths and Smash run)

It feels like this variation of Classic Mode might be a bit more strategic than others. You need to examine the field closely, and pick out some primary targets to take out early on. I like it~
