COMMUNITY SHEPARD: The Normandy crew have been kidnapped by the Collectors. Should Shepard rescue them immediately even though the team isn't ready and people will die, or should Shepard sacrifice the crew in order to prepare the team for the mission? Cast your vote in the comments below...

Smithie's right. The crew is totally expendable. Kelly gets killed by Cerberus, anyway. Doctor Chakwas somehow makes it out, but you can leave her on the Citadel and get the other doctor there (don't remember how to spell her last name).

Never once happened to me across 360 Wii u and ps3. You can talk to her during certain points in the game.
