this game has been getting negative reviews online..not sure why? its really cool and feels like an authentic jprpg from snes days. if your a fan of Chrono Trigger,and snes final fantasy games,theres no reason u shouldnt love this game

    It's more based on Genesis JRPG's such as Phantasy Star IV, which it mimics very closely.

    I think they are just giving this game the same standards of today's RPGs. Which is fine but overall not the point of the game. In anycase I'm enjoying it. Not every game has to be a 9

    They're reviewing through a 2014 viewpoint. This is a true modern retro game in a pure form. Recently made for an old system. There are inherent restrictions for older systems and this game had to adhere to them. If you're transported back to 1994 this game would be viewed differently. With all the recent retro games using modern elements, I think this real retro game may be viewed as too retro.

    If this game was released 2 years ago (on modern game systems), before all the recent retro type game, it would have had a more positive reception. But nowadays people want retro but without all the perceived "flaws" of older games. Because Pier Solar was made for the Genesis it had to keep them. I assume Watermelon did not want to ruin the experience. Even if that turned off some gamers.
