Considering what the Crucible can do and that it's the answer the Reapers are looking for,I wonder why or if they do destroy it rather than let them use it?It also doesn't make sense that the Reaper will still destroy a species that is about to find the solution to organic life & synthetics. It's like this,if you could tell harbinger that with a push of a button you can make all organics part

  • synthetic, they would probably destroy you first before letting you end the cycle.

  • The plans may not have been viable, but other organics would just start to build a new one. So, the Reapers would have to destroy all the technology that a race had, instead of just harvesting the entire race. The catalyst probably thought that organics would never be smart enough to figure out the plans, anyway. He probably thought that organics would kill each other before doing so.

  • The catalyst tried the synthesis approach before but organic life wasn't ready and it failed so it destroyed the crucible. Shepard proved they were now ready so they let him use the crucible to end the war

  • Yes but why weren't they ready the first time and why is it different now?The Catalyst points out that no organic has made it this far or something like that.Could it be that an organic had to make the choice?Since shepherd had to give up his body, this only seems to conclude that an organic had to be the one to make the decision so the catalyst was always doom to fail.

  • Though to be fair,I don't know what the Catalyst did which resulted in it failing the first time.I know or think something is mention about human DNA which could be why it worked for shepherd.

  • Yes it has to be a free organic mind which is why the illusive man couldn't do it, they controlled him.

  • If the reapers knew about the catalyst all along, why didn't they destroy it completely? Is that because they're being run by it? Perhaps the helper creatures on the Citidel were really in control all along?

  • I don't know about the keepers. They're mysterious, that's for sure. Does anyone know what the scan results from ME1 said? Those scans may provide a clue. I'm not sure, though.
