Traveler messages

ok first I get a noticed on my tomodachi that I get a message from a traveler. But when I open its like nothing happen I just get probles to sove nothing from the port. So I am asking how do get the message and why this happens ( its ok if you don't answer the second question) please please help I really want to read them thanks
