    Only to a certain extent. If by graphics you just mean visuals then no it's not necessary unless you need to be able to see something with great clarity. Gameplay first after all, as long as the developers can achieve the gameplay they want then graphical fidelity isn't that big of a deal. That said, it IS nice to have. It's just not necessary to create fantastic games.

    i have a hard time going back and playing old titles after playing a new one with significantly better graphics ive never played skyward sword or twilight princess but after playing 120 hours of BOTW on switch im having a hard time playing them. im sure eventually ill learn to love them tho its zelda after all

    To me, graphics are only part of the experience. As long as the gameplay is solid, I don't have an issue with graphically impressive games. Look at Jak & Daxter, Crash Bandicoot and Super Mario Galaxy - those were amazing looking games for their time yet the gameplay was still solid.

    McPoont, that comeback is lost on me. I played Pong... The fact remains in this day and age they make a difference. The question wasn't "do graphics have to be good".

    Well, that depends. A perfect example of a game that has realistic graphics that look amazing for its time as well as fantastic gameplay at 60FPS is Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 on PS2. Just like a good story, good graphics can go together with fun, interesting gameplay. Yes, gameplay should be prioritized first, but a bit of both can make what would be an otherwise great experience an amazing one.

    King, zork was a text based adventure with the only graphics being the words on the screen, at least the ball in pong moves lmao
