    There's probably a Sonic timeline and that sonic remembers the events of sonic adventure. That explains why there is so many references to the Classic Sonic games: Sonic 1,2,4,and adventure (only the level pack)

    Yeah...but the game was made in 1999 & Sonic belongs in the fictional world , so he didn't know when Sonic Adventure was released.So him saying 'like its 1999' is him knowing when Sonic Adventure was released , thus counts as breaking the 4th wall.

    How about there are multiple universes of sonic and this one is a lego sonic universe and in the game lego sonic is referencing Lego Sonic Adventure or somehow the sonic universe got turned into legos and somehow traveled back in time and sonic has re battle the same bosses in the classics and somehow has to return to the future (a new threat had arised far greater then sonic forces)
