Origin mark

Does anyone else hope that they'll retire the origin marks after Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon?

  • Yep. I just want them to get with the times and realise that like 90% of the fanbase doesn't really like VGC and wants an official 6v6 format like the way they grew up with the games. Also need to fix Mega Evolution because right now it's an awful mechanic they're trying to burry.

  • Oh and I remember reading somewhere in an interview about the design process of a Pokémon. They apparently make stuff to snipe others rather than nerf the problem Pokémon, so instead of having reasonable balance we have a mountain of monsters peaking with each new game, burrying the older Pokémon and making the games stale very quickly. It's so bad…

I would like to see Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele get nerfed, as they're almost on par with things like 6th Gen's Mega Kangaskhan. (M-Mawile's also too overpowered with that Swords Dance, Huge Power Ability, and a massive Base Attack stat.)

  • I somewhat agree. While I think Tapu Koko helps team building against stuff like Greninja, Tornadus-T, Mega Pinsir etc. which are all monsters, they honestly shouldn't be that strong, and it shouldn't be one Pokémon's job to deal with them. Like, it gets everything an Electric Type would want…

  • An amazing Speed tier, Nature's Madness, Taunt, dual screens, Roost, Calm Mind, U-Turn, Grass Knot, Brave Bird, Sleep Immunity, great Typing, +1 to all Electric attacks, mixed offencive Stats, it's insane. You can even take advantage of Seeds yourself with it or an Unburden user which activates immediately allowing it to pull of obscene Calm Mind sets, or partners like Hawlucha to become monsters.

When you put it that way, yeah, it really does need a nerf.

Sounds worse than 6th Gen Mega Khan actually.

  • Actually it might just be. Tapu Koko can be used freely as it's not a Mega. But yeah, it really bothers me seeing stuff like this then looking at Dedenne and friends in the corner of the room, just getting replaced, forgotten… Mega Mawile shouldn't have that much Attack, yeah, sigh. They just feel incredibly broken and untested.

It all just seems like 5th Gen's infinite weather wars all over again, but without the "infinite" part, and with Terrains instead. Maybe they need to nerf some of the effects of the Terrains, rather than the number of turns they're active. Maybe drop the boosting power to 1.3x instead of 1.5x, and give them an 80% success rate of prevent status or priority moves.

Although Fini and the Misty Terrain aren't really that powerful, but the other three definitely are.

i thought the whole point of the smogon tiers was to seperate everything into sets so stuff like dedenne can be usable in that tier, but obviously they don't care about stuff like tapu's or mawile even though they dominate everything in the tier...

Yeah, but that's just Smogon. It wouldn't do squat to balance the Battle Spot(didn't mean to rhyme).

it would be nice if gamefreak classed them and the UB's as special pokemon for the battle spot too.

Then people would scream "unfair" for not banning the other tournament legal "trio"(or non-trio) Legends too, like Suicune, Landorus, Latios, Cresselia, Heatran, ect.

i mean i don't mind the pokemon company making stuff like that because otherwise it would be stupid on the companys part to make the main pokemon of the game to be bad, so obviously theres gonna better pokemon than others... i just wish they would attempt to control it and that's where smogon comes in but they never did ban the tapus.

  • I like Smogon and stuff, but I don't agree with loads of stuff they do and implement, I'd really it rather be an official format as I feel preparing for everything in the game bar stuff like Manaphy and Mew isn't too far off of playing OU now. Tapu Fini's the least controversial one, it stops Status but it's also a curse because it can't inflict it back really, and it has poor offencive options.

  • The thing is, they've only took it upon themselves to consider nerfing stuff now. Gen VI made Grass Types immune to Powder Moves like Spore, and introduced the Item Safety Goggles, and made adjustments to old Abilities like Overcoat and adding more Pokémon with them which all in tandem allow you to prepare against Sleep spam without extreme limitation. Sleep clause can go now to be honest.

  • And they introduced the Fairy Type to answer the powerful Dragons. In Gen VI, stuff like Talonflame got trimmed, Mega Kangaskhan was at least an attempt, especially considering it doesn't have access to Power-Up-Punch in potential official tournament play this Gen, and Dark Void got nerfed to 50 Accuracy, Smeargle can't even use it anymore regardless. And -Ate Abilities are now a 1.2x boost.

  • While I'm not holding my breath for perfect balance or anything, I'd be lying if I said they weren't trying at all. But it feels that they have a really hard time balancing out the Legendaries. The Tapu would be fine if they lacked Terrain effects for the most part as their Stats seem pretty tame. So like Max said, I could see a Terrain nerf in the future in the way he described.
