    Wood pressure plates can be activated by any entity such as arrows. Stone pressure plates can only be activated by mobs (a living entity). Iron and gold produce more redstone power based on how many entitys are on it. I think one of them requires a LOT of entities than the other. The one I just described is called 'heavy';the other one is called 'light'.
