Why couldn't Marshadow be a Rock/Ghost-type Pokemon?

If you look at its name, you'll notice that the first four letters of its name spell "Mars", which is a terrestrial planet composed mostly of rock. Since this is a game based off of space, it would make sense

  • Because we don't have a Ghost/Fighting type Pokemon. And obviously Marsh and Shadow, it's could be a Ground and Fighting or Dark/Fighting because of its dark body and marshes are in dark areas.

  • The Marsh could also come from Martial, which is used to to describe things pertaining to war and fighting. Funny enough Martial derives from Mars, since Mars is commonly associated with war/fighting. Besides, Ghost/Fighting is one of the best offensive typings in the game. It has unresisted STABs (until the day a Normal/Ghost comes along).

  • We don't need another Pokemon that has a 4x Fairy weakness. Also, we haven't had a Rock/Ghost Pokemon. Ground/Fighting wouldn't make any sense because of the Shadow part of it's name. So we have Ground Ghost

  • Well we really won't have a need for a Rock/Ghost type Pokemon, making it weak to ground, ghost, water, ice, grass. Ghost/Fighting will be weak against flying, fairy and pyschic.

  • And also it will have a good STAB. Ghost/Fighting is a new typing anyway.

  • Ice is not super effective against Rock. And if any fast Ghost comes in, Marshadow will be obliterateed

  • It should personally a Norma/Ghost since its only weak to dark types and and Darkrai and Zoroark are actually the only threats to Marshadow.

  • Darkrai got nerfed so its not a thread anymore

  • How are those two specifically a threat?

  • Fairies destroy them

  • Also, Marshdow's Close Combat destroys most Dark types, including Zoroark and Darkrai, since it oustpeeds Zoroark and speed ties Darkrai.

  • Should just be raw Ghost if you ask me. Thing looks too weak and small to be a Fighting Type. It even says on its Pokédex entry that it's a coward.

  • I checked their stats, and sMarshadow gets neutrality destroyed by Leaf Storn by Mega Sceptile, finished by Pixilate Hyper Voice and destroyed by Airialate Double-Edge and/or Hyper Voice

  • Level it up with some defense and sp.defrnse and have it hold a focus sash, it can survive all of those.

  • Well sure, but by that argument, Zygarde and Garchomp are bad because Ice moves exist. Life Orb/Sash Marshadow actually does pretty well against them 1v1 thanks to Ice Punch/Poison Jab coverage and its nice speed (M-sceptile outspeeds, but can't OHKO with leaf storm) With its stats, it definitely seems like it will be great at late-game cleanup/revenge KOing once the bulky faries are gone.

  • You know that defensive Pokemon like Mega Sableye and Mega Slowbro stoo it completely

  • Oh yeah, absolutely. A lot of defensive pokemon, like Slowbro, Sableye, Clefable, Tapu Fini, Celesteela, and Skarmory can take Marshadow, especially anything with Will-O-Wisp or scald. But when up against other offensive threats, Marshadow will usually outspeed and KO. And not many things are able to switch into Ghost/Fighting STAB safely.
