Armor Pickup

So I'm trying to give some monsters armor for some little display thing and none of them are picking the items up. I know they can because I do it all the time but just not now. Any tips as to how to make them put the gear on easily?

only some mobs that are spawned in can pick up armor and tools. just keep spawning them on hard difficulty and you'll have better luck.

The more hours that you spend in a chunk (a small area), the more chance that a mob has to pick up equitment.
