Will I get anything special if I clear out all of the enemies here or is it a waste of time?

Well unless you want some of the best food that boosts movement speed there is not anything else special so if it is your 1st time here your gear can't blast those in a few seconds and it is not worth it, 1 of the chest is not a mimic but it doesn't give something that useful.

I accidentally ran into one of the strong ones after I killed the boss and lost an entire inventory-full of weapons. At least I got the key.

Not a big loss, the next zone can drop higher star weapons and inventory like all other final sets of previous keeps and the next keep too, you can just use the key next time first to grab the key that opens the next zone and if you want to risk it get back the inventory item you lost by going where you died. Next place can drop better stuff so I would just let the item there but it is up to you.

BTW be careful in the next 2 keeps without spoiling anything I can tell you it can be way more difficult than the third one. If you need help ask me about it.
