So why is the Breath of The Wild DLC pack 1 so much bigger on the Wii U than it is on the Switch?

  • Yeah I'm wondering that myself. Maybe there were some Wii U specific issues with the game that they wanted to address but I can't imagine it would make the DLC over 8 times larger.

  • Lie on your bed and spread your arms and legs out, now grab your knees and get into a fetul position, as you can see, you can be as big or as small as you want. It's the same with files, they're probably not compressed to make loading times shorter

  • How is it bigger on WiiU?

  • Think the Switch version is 456mb and the Wii U is 3.7gb

    Yeahs1
  • Huh. Good thing I play on Switch. My Wii U is OUT. OF. ROOM. I wonder why it's so much bigger.

    Yeahs1
  • @Hunter: No matter how much I stretch out I'm not going to become 8 times larger than I was lol. I get your point, but the analogy gets silly with extreme file size differences. The core game itself takes 13.4 GB on the Switch and 13 GB on the Wii U. So you'd think they'd have figured out how to keep the compression relatively similar for both.

  • Switch version probably already have most of the DLC assets

  • I haven't downloaded it yet but are you sure the new DLC on the Wii U is 3.7 GB even with the initial extra 3 GIGs of space set aside that came with the original update for the Wii U? If it is, perhaps they needed to set aside another 3 GIGs of space to help speed up load times or use it as an extra buffer for swapping things in & out of memory on the Wii U to help prevent more lag?

    Yeahs0
  • You can't really blame it on different processors & programming conversion because the original file sizes are pretty similar. Strange.. it has to just be a buffer then.

    Yeahs0
