What is the point of all these clan/teams?

What is the point of all the clans and teams? All I have seen happen so far is clans bickering over something small with each other. There really are no perks to it and the recruitment posts that come out are quite bland. Pretty much all of them being "Hey join my clan pls".

    Mostly to hang out with friends and buddies. Those bickering ones just want to get as many members as possible for no true reason

    There isn't a point really, most clans do only cause problems but very few do work well and simply have fun.
