There really isn't a point to the New 2DS XL this far into the 3DS's life. If this came out back in 2015, I could understand it.

    Don't tell me you're somebody that actually thinks the 3DS is a detriment to Nintendo at this point.

    In fact, to me it seems so much like a super-weak version of the Switch I don't understand why it would be released. After all, both are portable 2D systems, but the Switch must have ten times the processing power, even though it's not much bigger. I don't know how much the new 2DS XL costs, but knowing that, who would buy it over the Switch?!

    My point is that anyone who wanted a 3DS already has one, for the most part. It seems weird they're releasing ANOTHER iteration aftee we've gotten like 5, already.

    It could at least sell some 2DSs, since the bulky design of the original might've turned away some people.

    This is definitely a way of Nintendo trying to see if there's still any life in the hardware. The "new" 2DS XL is the "You want 3DS games? Here's your option." model, seeing as to how production of the other 3DS models have just sorta stopped entirely.
