    for me... it depends on the design of the character. But I mostly choose female and name the character like me. But in other games I prefer male characters over female (Mario Kart or fighting games)

    It's great if a game has character edit or a character creation function. So you can create the character you want and don't need to play as a standard one. I really love functions like that, it makes a game more comfortable and enjoyable, it's like you're a part of a game. (I would recommended this function in a Rune Factory game) sadly those functions aren't that often in games

    If I'm playing a game like Mario Kart as an example, I don't care about genders, it doesn't matter. I just play as the characters who are my favorites. It's different when it's an avatar character you create and customize the look and design of. If there's a gender choice, I always pick female.
