    I thought it was silly how he decides to go to a school. Then I realized, Alola is far more different than the rest of the regions he's been in. Though to be honest, I'm not sure whether he wants to be there to see what the school has to offer or if he genuinely wants to learn all there is to know about the region before heading straight on to the exploration like he did in all previous seasons.

    Even though Ash has defeated Team Magma, Team Aqua, Team Galactic, Team Plasma, and Team Flare, befriended the canon DEVIL and GOD, and lots more, he released Greninja, his Kalos powerhouse, lost the league 6 times, made Pikachu forget Volt Tackle, and it took him 20 years just to get an education. TL;DR, The day Ash wins the Pokemon League is when SpongeBob gets his driver's license

    Since in Japan the anime was made to keep up the hype from the first games, and it was/is basically made to advertise games, then Ash is an incarnation of Red. Heck, the anime got so popular that there was a Yellow version released, too. That was the initial purpose, but now? I dunno about the new stuff.

    The director for the new movie said the movie's like a parallel universe towards the original anime, which explains why Brock and Misty aren't with Ash. Quote "Movie 20 is a parallel world that is split from the OS episode one, in a ‘what if the story took a completely different route because of the Ho-Oh feather"

    I got this from a Pokemon translator's blog, they translated a few important bits from the director interview on JP Yahoo news. Also, about Ash's immortality - confirmed that Ash doesn’t age “Time has not passed since the start of the journey. Ash is eternally 10 years old” -Yuyama Like damm. ^^
