Not exactly. Most of the stage themes and the bosses of the regular stages come from MNN, sure, but a large number of the regular enemies and the bosses of the endgame stages are based on Azure Striker Gunvolt 2. It, like its' predecessor, is truly a crossover game.

Not even close. It's a follow-up to Mighty Gunvolt, but it's canon to the Azure Striker Gunvolt series. It's also Mighty No. 9's sequel, and everything THAT title should have been. If Ekoro is on your game, she could make it a Gal Gun Double Peace follow-up, too.

Actually this game is just aVR simulation training ground for beck it's confermed at the end of gunvolts playthrouh and beginning of becks. Also this game feels like what MN9 should have been.
