Oh, when i started Miiverse i didn't had any follower, but i slowly got earnt some, by posting, by yeahing (this is a tip, people tend to follow more people who yeah a lot, i dunno why), etc. I wish good luck for you getting some followers, even though i don't see so much importance about it :P.

About the popular youtubers, they usually do this on some video with content, doing what you are saying is like a Youtuber do a full video only saying about "sub me, plz sub me, like all my videos, call your friends to sub and like my videos". THIS type of thing i am against.
