Why am I so weak?

Just finished off core story in DQ7! Thought I'd jump into DQ8 and get a good start b4 MH:Stories comes out. I died against the first measly lil boss guy! Did I just get too used to my OP party from 7, or is DQ8 just much more difficult in general? I know it'll get a bit easier as I lvl, but dying that soon is very discouraging!

    You've gotta grind a lot for the bosses here I was lv.7 and Yangus was lv.8 when I beat him.

    Ok, I'll try again after some grinding! MH:Stories demo is out on Thursday and demo progress carries into the full game. So depending on how much grinding they let you do in the demo. If it's like the Miitopia demo where you can level as much as you want in the first area, I might just invest my time into that. But I'll def play thru DQ8 at some point lol
