Looking at Splatoon 2 from a 'realistic' perspective, Pearl deserves way more credit: she's considered to be unattractive by most S2 players, yet her looks never stopped her from being a star, admired by her fans for her raw talent. Not only that, but not being conventionally beautiful never put a downer on her spunky stage personality.

    I mean really, just imagine some famous celebrity woman, only she has a 'unique' appearance like Pearl and is often overshadowed by her co-star by the fans. I think that's someone to be admired, especially since pretty much ALL celebrities in real life are (considered) attractive.

    Marina's deal with her being an Octoling (of color, at that) also indicates that 'it doesn't matter who you are or where you come from- you can still be extremely talented and even famous.' That's more prevalent in today's world, compared to Pearl's deal, though.

    Sure, looks obviously help, but you also have to remember those "Susan Boyle" type celebrities. I'd like to believe that most people aren't choosing because of conventional attractiveness/which they'd prefer to be in a serious relationship with. As an example, I have absolutely no problem with Pearl's looks,since I also have a big forehead and always angry face.

    Also consider this: Pearl, An inkling, befriended Marina, An octoling, during a time where inkling and octoling relationships were (most likely) rather tense. If they werent when off the hook was formed Pearl STILL deserves more love than she has now
