    Well, considering that the only thing you can buy with real currency are Gem Apples, I'm pretty sure you can play through the entire game using only the Gem Apples from the Gem Apple Harvest. Be warned: Your Gem Apple Tree will only give you 5 Gem Apples every time, and some quests will be locked until you unlock them with Gem Apples.
