Shadow is genderless, but they are still mentioned with male pronouns. How odd. As for Shadow's origin, it is currently unknown, but it has something to do with the creation of the Triage some billion years prior. Some say that Shadow is the first Synth, which might explain why he is definitely not used to modern culture.
