A Collector or A Finisher?

When you play an adventure game, do you complete the story first and then collect items? Or do you collect items first and then complete story?

    Depends on the game really. I see myself clearing the story first most of the time unless the game ends after I clear it.

    It depends on the game for me too, if there's no consequences for doing it the way I want I either do both at the same time or go side questing/collecting when I need a break from story or if it interests me.
