    it's not that hard, I finished it when I was a kid back then, you just lack reflexes! You need to play more the earlier levels to master how to control Mario. You can farm 1up pretty eaasily or items in this game if it's what prevents you from finishing it. Do you need some advices?

    You're not supposed to do this before playing the game for some time hehe. :P If it's too hard, just try the first 3-4 words which are not difficult then go to world 8, at this point you should have collected tones of lifes and items. Going to world 8 "naked" is only for people who know the game pretty well.
