Revali reminds me of Roam, a character created exclusively for the "Link To The Past" comic that ran in Nintendo Power. Like Revali, Roam was a arrogant archer who teams up with Link despite serious doubts about Link's competence. Just as the Dark World turned Link into a bunny in the game (that doesn't happen in the comic), it turned Roam into an Eagle.

Another connection between Breath Of The Wild and the "Link To The Past" comic is that the comic ends with Zelda pointing out that the telepathic bond between Link and Zelda was dying, like how BOTW ends with Zelda saying she can no longer hear the voice in the master sword.
